Hero Wars Hero Tier List — October 2026
Hero Wars now has more than 70 heroes, and the meta keeps moving. This tier list ranks every major hero from S-tier (must-build) down to D-tier (situational at best), based on Arena and Guild Wars performance, campaign value, and how well each hero holds up after the 2026 balance updates.
How this tier list works
- S-tier — Meta-defining. These heroes appear in most top Arena and Guild Wars teams.
- A-tier — Excellent. Strong in the right team, sometimes one synergy away from S-tier.
- B-tier — Solid role-players. Good stats or utility, but outclassed by higher tiers.
- C-tier — Niche picks. Usable early or in very specific counters.
- D-tier — Out of meta. Only build if you love the hero or need them for a meme comp.
Rankings assume heroes are reasonably invested. A maxed D-tier hero still loses to a mid-investment S-tier hero — invest in S and A first.
S-tier — the heroes that define the 2026 meta
| Hero | Role | Why S-tier |
|---|---|---|
| Folio | Mage | 2026's most explosive mage; his Relic lets his copy soak damage, punishing slow teams. |
| Iris | Mage | Debuff shredder, immune to debuffs herself, scales into every buff/debuff comp. |
| Yasmine | Marksman | Crit assassin with dodge and healing-cut; the safest physical carry. |
| Kayla | Warrior | Armor-bypassing DPS with self-heal; forms the best duo in the game with Aidan. |
| Aidan | Healer | The healing king — raises team max health and pairs perfectly with Kayla. |
| Guus | Healer | Stops ally health dropping past 25% and buffs team crit chance. |
| Dante | Marksman | Pure damage that bypasses defenses and disrupts enemy formation. |
| Octavia | Support | Team dodge buff (even vs magic) plus armor penetration. |
| Drayne | Warrior | New-era bruiser dominating current Arena boards. |
| Electra | Mage | Burst mage rising fast in the 2026 meta. |
| Byrna | Support | Fresh support pick warping team building around her. |
A-tier — excellent, one synergy away from the top
Julius is the best free-to-play tank in the game — team-wide shields that stop instant wipes, and he becomes nearly unkillable next to Isaac and Judge. Martha remains the most versatile healer, Jorgen the best energy denial, and Sebastian the cleanse-and-crit engine of every physical team. Polaris is a control monster whose broken Ice Barrier amplifies damage taken by 140%. Mushy & Shroom, Celeste, Nebula, Faceless, Cleaver, Fafnir, Isaac, Judge, Soleil and Tempus round out a deep A-tier — any of them can anchor a top-50 Arena team with the right partners.
B-tier — solid role-players
Aurora (dodge tank), Astaroth (revive safety net), Dorian (vampire sustain), Helios (crit counter), Andvari (anti-crit), Phobos (magic control), Satori (mark burst), Ziri (burrow tank), plus Oya, Tristan, Rufus, Luther, Mojo and Alvanor. Good heroes — just outclassed by the tiers above in the current patch.
C & D-tier — fallen giants and niche picks
This is where the 2026 meta shift shows. Old staples like Galahad, Lars and Krista have slid to C and D — the twins only work as a pair and even then struggle against current control teams. Thea, Fox, Ginger, Daredevil and Elmir are early-game heroes that fall off hard. Qing Mao keeps one job: Hydra damage. Cornelius, Arachne, Heidi, Jet, Lilith, Peppy and Maya are usable in narrow counters but should never be your first investment.
Best team compositions right now
- Eternal Darkness: Dante – Morrigan – Phobos – Astaroth – Martha. Magic penetration synergy with Dante's pure damage.
- Crit Cascade: Yasmine – Sebastian – Jet – Astaroth – Martha. Multiplicative crit stacking ends fights in seconds.
- Chaos Control: Iris – Julius – Jorgen – Celeste – Nebula. Jorgen denies ultimates while Julius soaks everything.
- Beginner F2P: Astaroth – Yasmine – Qing Mao – Celeste – Martha. Clears campaign and early Arena cheaply.
How to use this tier list
- New players: build one S-tier carry (Yasmine, Iris or Kayla) + Julius or Astaroth + Martha or Aidan. That core carries you for months.
- Never spread resources across five D-tier favorites — depth beats breadth until your main team is maxed.
- Counter, don't copy: Arena defense rewards anti-meta picks (Jorgen vs ult-reliant teams, Helios vs crit teams).
- Re-check monthly: balance patches move heroes between tiers. Bookmark this page — we update after every major patch.
FAQ
Who is the best hero in Hero Wars right now?
There is no single best hero — but Folio, Iris, Yasmine, Kayla and Aidan are the closest thing to must-haves in October 2026. They fit the most teams and stay relevant across Arena, Guild Wars and Hydra.
What is the best free-to-play hero?
Julius. Farmable from the Guild War shop, he is the sturdiest F2P tank and slots into almost any team. Pair him with Martha (also accessible) for a rock-solid core.
Is Galahad still good?
Not in the 2026 meta. Galahad is a fine early campaign tank but falls to C-tier in competitive play — invest in Julius or Astaroth instead.
How often is this tier list updated?
After every major balance patch, roughly monthly. The current ranking reflects the October 2026 meta.
Can I make my own tier list?
Yes — use the interactive tier maker at the top of this page. Drag heroes between tiers, export your list as a PNG, and share it.
